Stand-In Groom

Stand-In Groom
By Kaye Dacus
Anne Hawthorne is a wedding planner who thinks she will never fall in love. When she meets George Laurence, she is sure this is the man for her. When she discovers he is the groom whose wedding she will be planning she is gives up on romance once again. George, however is a personal assistant for a popular man who wants to keep his engagement a secret and has required George to stand in for him during the wedding planning. George has to keep his this all a secret and starts having problems when he falls for Anne.
This book was very captivating and it held my attention. There are scripture verses woven throughout the story that help pull it together. It is a contemporary Christian romantic fiction that tells a story of two falling in love and the hardships they face. It is very realistic and well described.

The Good Guy

Tim Carrier goes to a bar one day expecting nothing out of the ordinary to happen. How wrong he is. A man comes to him mistaking him for someone else. The man gives him a picture of a woman and money and says, "You get the rest when she's dead." Tim doesn't know what to think. He feels the need to protect this woman, but when he does, the man who wants her dead wants Tim out of the way too. What happens? I don't know, guess you will just have to read this book written by Dean Koontz.

Between Sundays

This book, written by Karen Kingsbury, is about a young boy named Cory who thinks a famous football player, Aaron Hill, is his father. His mother had passed away, and had only once talked about Cory's father. His foster mom, Megan, thinks he is completely wrong and making up stories. Cory really wants to meet him so he can tell Aaron that he is his son. This book is very realistic and is a very heart warming book. I recommend it to all readers.

Sense and Sensibility

Elinor and Marianne are the main characters in this book written by Jane Austen. Elinor is the eldest daughter of three. Marianne is the middle child. Their love lives fall apart when Elinor falls in love with an engaged man and Marianne falls in love with a man who gets married. Elinor tries to forget the man she loves and Marianne tries to but finds she can't. It all takes place in the past but all the scenes described are very realistic. This book is at a higher level. It was hard reading for me. I do recommend it to teenage girls and adults. This book is a good mother-daughter book.

One Tuesday Morning

One Tuesday Morning is written by Karen Kingsbury. It is the first in a sequence of books. This book is about two men Eric Michael and Jake Bryon. They both look alike but have no relation. Jake is married to Jamie with a daughter Syria while Eric is married to Laura with a daughter named Josh. Eric lives in California and works for a company and has no time for his wife and son. Jake lives in New York, is a firefighter and loves his daughter and wife. One weekend in September Eric goes to the Twin Towers for a meeting with his boss. Tuesday, September 11 comes and Eric is working with his boss when the first tower was hit. Then, his building was hit. Jake is called to the buildings. Eric heads down and Jake heads up. Afterward when surviving people search the mess they find who they think to be Jake Bryon. Eric is said to be missing in the rubble. Jake is suffering Amnesia and can't remember who he is. Is Jake really Jake? Everything in this book is very realistic and it was a very good book to read. I recommend this book to teens and adults. It was a great book!

Coming Home

This book, the first in a series of around 20 great books, is written by Lauren Brooke. The main character is Amy, a teenager who lives and works with her mom at Heartland, where they help firghtened and abused horses. On a ride out to see a horse of hers, Amy finds Spartan abandoned and alone in a barn. Amy and her mom go out together with the trailor to get him, but they get caught in a storm on the way back. This book is easier than others. I thought it was a page turner. Everything is very realsitic, and it could happen. You don't have to be a horse lover to enjoy this book because I'm not.

1st to Die

James Patterson wrote this action packed first in the series book. This is a murder mystery, starring Lindsey Boxer. Someone is killing newlyweds in San Fransisco. The only jewelry he takes is the wedding rings. It is one tough case. When Lindsey finally thinks she gets the killer, it might be the wrong guy! Lindsey also gets a chance at love. How will it end? It is very suspenseful, and I couldn't put it down. This book it very good for people who like murder mysteries.

Pride and Prejudice

This is a very old classic, written by Jane Austen. It is about the 5 Bennet sisters. It is a little like Little Women. Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters, but she only wants them to marry rich gentlemen. This story shares laughs, and tears, joys, and heart breaks. It is longer, and a harder book, but it is very good once you get into it. If you like the book you might like the movie. I found it almost exactly like the book! I did like the book better, just because I like reading better than watching movies. I think that this book, like Little Women, is a very good book for mothers and daughters.

Eclipse

Eclipse is the third in a very good series Twilight, and is written by Stephenie Meyer. With Edward back, and graduation on the way Bella is almost happy. But Edward has told Bella she is not allowed to see Jacob anymore. He said it is too dangerous. Bella sneaks out anyway, and becomes friends again with Jacob. Then, a large group of Vampires is coming to fight with the Cullens. Bella realizes it is her they want, not the Cullens. That makes the Cullens fight harder. Then an old enemy, Victoria, shows up, seeking revenge for killing her boyfriend. What will happen? Find out by reading this very good book. It was hard to put down when my mom needed help!

New Moon

This book, the second in the series called Twilight, was written by Stephenie Meyer. Edward leaves Bella, thinking it is the best for her safety. Bella is heartbroken. She turns to Jacob Black, a family friend. Jacob slowly manages to patch her up, but after a while, he turns away, and weird things happen to him. Once Bella confronts him about it, he becomes nicer to her again. Then Alice, Edward's sister, sees that Edward is going to try to kill himself. Bella must go to Italy and try to stop him. This was also a very good book, and if you liked Twilight, you should like this.

Twilight

Stephenie Meyer wrote this very good book. Bella Swan moves to Forks, to live with her dad. While in school she meets the beautiful Edward Cullen. Something is very strange about this beautiful guy. Bella figures it out, and Edward finally softens. When things are just about right, someone fights Edward's family. The Cullen family win. But one of that kind want their revenge. He tricks Bella into meeting her alone. To find out what happens, you will have to read this book, the first to a series of four. I really enjoyed it, and I think it is an average level. It may be long, but it is easy reading.
